Fender Launches 'Custom Custom Shop'

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Fender Custom Shop is celebrating 30 years by opening a new division: The Fender Custom Custom Shop.

“Starting a custom shop in 1987 was groundbreaking,” states Fender representative Harvey Cooper. “But let’s face it, even Hondo has a custom shop these days. It was time to up the ante”.

Fender’s Custom Custom Shop will take models developed by the Custom Shop and give them exclusive Custom Custom Shop treatment. And while Fender’s Custom Shop has long boasted Master Builders, the Custom Custom Shop will be the first in the world to employ Master Master Builders.

“Our first Custom Custom was based on a ’64 Custom Shop Strat with a heavy relic sunburst finish”, explains Cooper. “Our Custom Custom Shop team repaired the damage caused by the Custom Shop relicing process and refinished the guitar in a nifty Seafoam Green”.

Other planned models are based on vintage Fenders defaced in the 1980s with Floyd Rose bridges and single humbucker scratchplates. “The Custom Shop builds the guitars with these ugly mods built in and then we painstakingly return them to the original specs”, says Cooper.

Fender Custom Custom Shop guitars start at US $10,000 and can be ordered through your local Fender dealer.
